On Tuesday 28 April, the Department for Education in the UK launched a collection of free job-related online courses, teaching numeracy, coding and internet skills. Those self-isolating, furloughed and those eager to learn are encouraged to boost their skills in the online virtual classroom.
The new ‘Skills Toolkit’ website contains links to review and enrol on to the courses. The Open University, Google, Future Learn, Cisco and others provide these courses and some also offer certification or badges. Certification or badges are welcoming additions to anyone’s CV and/or LinkedIn profile.
Listed in levels, from introductory to advanced, the free online courses cover topics from ‘Tools and resources to help you build skills for using social media, email or make working from home easier’ to ‘Learning how to code in Python’.
There is even a course for creating good online content for those who may want to contribute to Podio Magazine (or similar) in the future.
