Macmillan Coffee Mornings have been popping up all over our news feeds this month as the national cancer support charity raise awareness of, and funds for, the life-changing work they do. Today marks their main push as they host the UK’s largest coffee morning in partnership with Marks & Spencer. Below, we catch up with a family trio who did their bit for the cause earlier this month

Plungington Community Centre, just outside the city centre on Plungington Road, is one of dozens of venues to recently host such an event. Organisers, mother Bernie Saxon and daughters, Hannah Saxon & Janine Yarker chose to run the fundraiser because they ‘fully support the cause‘, explains Janine, who studied at Cardinal Newman College before moving to Manchester to launch her own business.

The total amount raised from the morning event was £200 – but with loads of cake and competitions left over the trio were confident about hitting £250.

The ladies didn’t do it alone; as with most inspiring success stories, help was help offered by neighbours, friends and other family members too.

If you’ve hosted a Coffee Morning lately why not tell us below how much you’ve raised and why you chose to support Macmillan. To learn more about Macmillan visit their website.
