Close to 300 runners of all ages took part in the Heartbeat 2k on Sunday 25th September 2016 at Avenham Park in Preston. The annual event is into its 4th year now and this year has been the biggest so far, raising over £1,000 for the charity.
Heartbeat is the North West’s cardiac charity. Based at Deepdale Football Stadium, they support over 800 people every week who are living with heart disease as well as leading the fight against heart disease through school and community awareness programmes.
People of all ages took part in the event, with some families entering 3 generations into the run!
A special mention should go to Preston based runner Gina Briggs, pictured above receiving her medal from Heartbeat volunteer Carla, who took part in both the 10k & 5k RunPreston races on the morning before heading down to the Heartbeat 2k to complete both the 2k and 1k routes. Taking home 4 medals on the day!
“Thank you to all of the runners, they were all so inspiring! Also, thanks to Run Preston who’ve helped us organise the event and to Petticoat Lane Fireplaces who sponsored our medals” Mark, Fundraising Officer for Heartbeat.
