Set some goals that you can achieve
Despite the current situation that you are in. Make sure that these goals are SMART goals (Smart, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Bound) which will help you to be able to achieve them and to know when you have achieved them. An example of this would be to obtain a qualification in a specific subject by a certain date. You can do the qualification online if you have access to the internet.
Plan your days wisely
Plan your days wisely in order to use the time to help you take the baby steps towards achieving your goals. Decide what you are going to do each day and then create a ‘To Do’ list, or even better, an Action Plan to help you achieve some goals whilst you are having to stay at home.
Share your goals with other people
Share your goals with other people, either people in your household (if there are others there) or via speaking to your friends or contacts and let them know what you wanting to achieve and why. You may need some help from someone else to achieve your goals. If so, ensure that any help you receive is in accordance with Government guidelines in respect of social distancing, i.e. where you do not need to meet up with people who are not part of your household.
Online support groups
If you are on Facebook or other similar social media channels, why not set up a group for other like-minded people so that you can support others and they can support you – it could be in terms of a common interest that you share, sharing information about something or asking for support if you need help with something, due to the current restrictions.
As well as working on achieving your goals, do factor in some time out for yourself to do something that helps you to relax. Why not try an online class i.e. yoga, or practice mindful meditation, for example? You could learn something new that you could do in the comfort of your own home that you could develop further after the lockdown is over. For example, some dance schools are posting easy dance instruction videos on Facebook. If you have always wanted to learn to dance but not had the courage to go to a dance school, perhaps because you are on your own, why not learn some basic skills that may help you feel more confident about going to a dance school for lessons, once the lockdown is all over?
I will be back posting some more tips soon to help you make the most of the current situation. Please remember that the situation we are currently in will not last forever. Until next time, stay safe…
