Our Food Co-op is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation which aims to facilitate healthy eating in Preston city centre and across the Preston area.
During UCLan Freshers’ week, Barry from the co-op was kept busy taking orders from students determined to make a healthy start to their new university lifestyles.
The co-op delivers bags of fruit, veg and salad to several collection points across the city every Wednesday. These are available to purchase for just £4 each. All bags contain six different varieties; for example a veg bag could typically contain potatoes, onions, swede, carrots, fresh beetroot and broccoli. And there’s even better news; if you qualify for Healthy Start vouchers, the co-op accepts these, bringing down the cost of a bag to just 90p!
Collection points include: West View Leisure Centre, the University of Central Lancashire’s Students’ Union, CGA Harbour House, Lyn’s Lunchbox, Birkdale Drive Intact, Ingol Sion Park Community Hub, St Teresa’s School and Preston Sports Arena.
