A free family event has been organised by the city’s Business Improvement District on Saturday July 8th featuring soap star & Celebrity Masterchef contestant Scott Maslen, CBeebies star Katy Ashworth and ITV’s Dean Edwards. The trio will take to the cookery theatre stage on our city’s Flag market for an afternoon of fun; whilst demonstrating some great easily achievable dishes for the whole family.
Preston has established itself as ‘the’ place in Lancashire for choice, service and value when it comes to dining out. ‘Let’s Cook…Live’ comes to the city centre hot on the heels of Gregg Wallace’s visit last summer.
Masterchef’s Gregg visited some of Preston’s best restaurants & commented that ‘Preston is one of the friendliest places I’ve ever visited and the food here is great’.
Katy Ashworth, from the children’s television programme ‘I Can Cook’, will show younger members of the family how exciting cooking as a family can be.
Dean Edwards, from ITV’s, Lorraine has been a professional chef since 2006 & will be putting some mouth-watering dishes together in front of the live audience.
Maslen will complete the line-up at ‘Let’s Cook…Live’ and prepare some of his popular signature dishes as featured on Celebrity Masterchef.
The event will also feature demonstrations from some of the city’s local restaurants.
Mark Whittle from Preston BID, organisers of the event told Podio: ‘Working with colleagues in the retail sector, we’ve put together a great line up of personalities to tempt people in to town for this free to attend family event. We’re installing a huge stage & giant screen to ensure that attendees can really feel a part of the event – and hopefully take home some great ideas for eating together as a family’.
Andrew Stringer, co-chair of the city’s Retail Forum and manager of St. George’s Shopping Centre said: ‘this promises to be a fantastic afternoon for all the family and I’m sure the well-known faces on stage will prove to as popular as the TV shows they are associated with’.
Later that evening the BID, in partnership with the city’s leisure businesses, is staging a concert with headline performances from international DJ’s and producers Tom Zanetti & Fatman Scoop
