What else is new this year? Well, by the time this has gone to print, our paperwork should have been accepted by the Community Interest Regulator for us to be part of a fully-fledged Community Interest Company (thanks SELNet!) Additionally, we’ve welcomed two inspiring students who are gaining industry experience for one day a week as part of a UK Government scheme which Preston’s College is trialling. Cora & Izzy are 18 & 20 years old, both from Preston, and have both sunk their teeth into our work from day one (pictured, preparing a feature on fake social media accounts) They’ve also been tasked with building a social media presence for Podio Preston – so do check out their work online J
Personally, I’m moving out to Thailand later this year so it gives me great pleasure to introduce the following faces to our management team. After supporting Global Amigos, and our vision with Podio Magazine, from day one, Alys Stuart from Together We Balance & Irene Flack from Starfish English Services have now stepped up as Finance Director and Community Engagement Director respectively. Our volunteer team has also increased with the addition of Karen Hooper (admin superstar) Julie Lightfoot (business editor) & David Carthy (advertising & partnerships) Check out our Facebook page for introductions about all involved in our work and get in touch if you’d like to get on board too?!
I can be contacted directly by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or over Twitter @andyneale_PR1. Finally, if you’d like to get to know me better? I have a (very) personal, but publically available blog that’s tracked my travels (and opinions) from over the years: www.globalamigo.co.uk
Have a great spring, Preston!
