Friday April 28th saw the SELNET Awards (Social Enterprise Network Lancashire) ceremony take place in Mytton Fold Golf Club over in East Lancashire.
Podio Magazine were honored to have been shortlisted for the Start Up Social Enterprise award – alongside three incredible grassroots organisations, Shape Lancashire, the Dogg Inn at Belthorne and Spring into Phab (crowned the winners during the glitzy celebrations)
Whilst our attendees, Andy & Luke had no idea what to expect of the evening or of the awards (it was our first, hopefully of many) we couldn’t let the event pass without sharing a piece on here.
The evening was incredibly inspiring and certainly possessed a sense of shared celebration. We spent the evening shoulder to shoulder with people from a range of Lancashire-based organisations that do good; from environmental champions to those helping the most marginalized in society.
Being shortlisted in itself was an honour; being in a room with so much experience and passion was a privilege.
The aim of SELNET is to work with and promote social enterprises across Lancashire and, although we’ve only recently signed up (and started to establish ourselves in general) we wholeheartedly recommend the organisation for any Lancashire-based social enterprise; whether you’re as small as we are, or a social giant.
We hope that, one day, Podio Magazine will be in a position to sponsor the event because it truly was amazing; the event, the people, the venue and all the organisations / projects present.
At the very least, income-dependent, we’ll be booking a table for all of our team next year – whether we’re finalists or otherwise.
Well done to Liz Tapner, the team, the Board, and all the sponsors for creating such a special night – and thanks to those we got to talk to; for making us feel so welcome. See you next time!
