An award-winning Edinburgh Fringe production dealing with one of the last taboos of male health – testicular cancer – comes to The Continental this October.
Growth, by Luke Norris, debuted at Paines Plough’s “Roundabout @ Summerhall” at the Fringe last year and won a prestigious Fringe First award before embarking on this UK tour.
Growth’s creator Luke Norris is an actor & writer for both stage & screen. His professional debut, Goodbye To All That was performed at the Royal Court Jerwood & was widely acclaimed. His next play, So Here We Are, won a Bruntwood Judges Award and was nominated for two Manchester Theatre Awards – debuting at High Tide Festival in 2015 before transferring to Manchester Royal Exchange.
However, Luke is better known to TV viewers for essaying the role of ‘Dr. Dwight Enys’ in the BBC’s, Poldark. Other acting work includes roles in FirstBorn, Skins and The Inbetweeners.
Growth is “supposed to be a clarion call,” says Luke, “to make sure people do go and get it checked, and I don’t know another play that is saying that.”
Catch Growth at The Continental on Thursday 12th October. The show is recommended for ages 14+, and runs at 70 minutes with no interval. Doors open at 7.50 for a prompt 8pm start.
